allmydiredreams: ([ooc] my favorite part was EVERYTHING)
[personal profile] allmydiredreams
Decided to do one of the very comprehensive character surveys for Babel, because I could. Yeah, that's right.

Strangely, this didn't touch on a few things I was expecting it to, but oh well, whatever. Also, I took out the stupid "Favorite...?" part, because who the hell cares what her favorite type of furniture is? Who even has favorite furniture?

The Character Physically
1. What is the character's stature and build? Is he overweight? Thin? What is his height and weight?
She's 5'6", probably somewhere around 130-140 lbs? (I'm a very bad judge of weight.) She's a strange mixture of bony and soft, really -- her face is a sharp heart shape with a pointy chin and almost hawkish nose and slightly slanty eyes, and you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her elbows and knees, but her stomach is nowhere approaching flat. She's overall pretty average, not skinny but not chubby either. Small hands, also. ...this would be much easier to describe through drawing.

2. How old is she?
Endless. Looks anywhere between 16 and 24 at any given time.

3. Describe his posture. Is it good? Does he carry himself well? Is he crooked? Straight?
She stands pretty straight and confident, though tends not to sit properly, preferring to sprawl herself awkwardly over whatever she's sitting on.

4. Is he in good shape or out of condition? Is he muscularly weak or strong?
She's in pretty good shape; not terribly healthy, sure, and she certainly doesn't really have any muscle tone to speak of, but she's not breathing hard when she goes up stairs or something like that (unless she's just run up them, which is more than likely.) She's much stronger than she looks, but that doesn't so much have to do with muscles as it does weird magical shit the clouds did to her.

5. How is his health? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
She's pretty much average. She is capable of getting sick, but isn't sick often.

6. Is he physically active or sedentary? A fast or slow mover?
Active active active. She gets bored if she stays in one place for too long; even if she's living somewhere it's rare that she's actually there for more than a few hours at a time. She's always moving. And tends to move very quickly (even when sauntering) like a little hummingbird or something.

7. Is he clumsy, awkward, graceful?
She's a little too awkward to be graceful, and on occasion trips over her feet, though she's not to the point of being clumsy.

8. Does he move in straight or curved lines?
Is he physically tight or fluid? Straight lines, physically tight.

9. What are his chief efforts?
Worming her way into other people's lives.

10. Is the character good-looking, pretty, beautiful, average, plain, ugly, disfigured?
Babel was made to look pretty average overall, so she's just weird-looking enough to not be pretty but not plain.

11. Is the character aware of himself physically? His looks?
Yes, but she doesn't care most of the time.

12. Describe his complexion and skin. Dark, light, clear, marked?
Light, usually with a lot of light scars from scuffing her knees on things, etc. She's none too careful, so she ends up with a lot of little cuts and scrapes, kind of like a kid would.

13. Describe his hair, coloring, styling. Is it taken care of?
Black hair, chopped off somewhere above the shoulders -- when she gets it cut professionally it's closest to a long a-line (shorter in back longer in front thing), but usually she just takes scissors to it herself. She does absolutely nothing with it, though it's fine enough to fall out of most knots unless they're very bad ones; most days she doesn't even bother to brush it.

14. How is his usual dexterity? Does he have good hands: Can he do things? Is he a worker?
Again, pretty average. She doesn't really use her hands for anything that would increase their dexterity by any means.

15. Is he physically tense or relaxed, nervous, controlled?
An odd mixture of relaxed and tense, really. She's always going, but she's never really terribly tense, I guess.

16. What are his chief tension centers?
Jaw, probably? I'm not sure.

17. What part of his body would you notice first?
I don't really know. She tends to dress in bright colors that distract from her body rather than flatter it, I guess.

18. Describe his basic gravity factor. Is there a downward pull or buoyancy?
Buoyancy.

The Character's Clothes
1. How many clothes does this character have?
Not a lot, really, just a duffelfull.

2. What items are in his wardrobe?
A rainbow skirt, a couple pairs of falling-apart jeans, a bunch of brightly colored tanktops with random little patterns on them (like stars or small animals or rocketships), a lot of worn t-shirts, a bright blue fuzzy jacket, a sweatshirt, a bunch of tights with odd patterns (striped, some with polka dots, some with actual odd patterns on them like bubbles or barbed wire), something like five different bras and pairs of underwear that range from slightly racy to things like little boy underpants with frogs on them. Also some socks, but none of them match.

3. What is his favorite article of clothing?
She likes them all, as far as I can tell.

4. What colors are the clothes? Is there a wide range?
Pretty much every color of the rainbow.

5. Are his clothes bright or dull?
Bright! Very bright.

6. Were they bought or home-made, hand-me-downs, expensive?
All of them were acquired second-hand, whether this means stealing them from ex-boyfriends (as is the case with a few of the t-shirts), getting them from friends who outgrew them, or raiding thrift stores.

7. What is one of his favorite items to wear? ....wasn't this asked already? :|

8. Do his clothes fit well?
Sometimes. If anything, they'd be too big in the pants area and too small in the shirts area. Most of them fit her perfectly fine.

9. Is he comfortable in what she wears?
Definitely.

10. Is he confident about the way he dresses, or uneasy?
Confident.

11. Does he care for his clothes? Keep them up and neat?
Hahahaa, yeah right. I think she just shoved handfuls of clothes in her duffel when she left California.

12. Does he have to dress a certain way because of his job or position?
Nope!

13. Does he dress according to a self image of himself?
She dresses in things she likes, with little care as to whether they go with her 'image' or whether they even match.

14. What kind of underwear does he wear?
Anything from weird lacy things to little boys underwear. She doesn't like thongs much, nor boxers (well, except for sleeping in). She'll wear pretty much anything else provided it's in either bright colors or has little patterns of something on it. Bras are usually the same -- they range from weird lacey things to brightly colored obnoxious things. Or swimsuit tops.

The Character's Voice
1. Does he speak in a high or low pitch voice?
In between, definitely closer to high than low.

2. Is he a loud or soft talker?
Loud talker, mostly.

3. Is there a wide range in the voice in volume, pitch and/or quality, or is the voice pretty consistent and even?
Pretty wide range; one second she'll be stage whispering for dramatic effect, the next shouting excitedly about something, and the next carrying on her conversation as if there was nothing abnormal going on with her volume.

4. Is there good resonance to the voice?
Not really.

5. Is there tension in the voice? Anxiety? Emotion?
She betrays most of her emotions in her voice very readily. Unless she's gone competent-dissociative, in which case she just betrays the crazy.

6. Is there an accent? Anything unusual in pronunciation? Emphasis? Phrasing?
Nope. Her voice is the epitome of Midwestern nonaccent at the moment. She tends to adapt easily to various accents that she might need to use depending on where she lives so as to sound as unremarkable as possible.

7. Is it a trained voice, or just natural?
Natural; the blending in is pretty unconscious.

8. Does the character "try" to speak well or just "how it comes out"?
How it comes out.

9. Is the speech clear or muddy? Does she mumble? Is he distinct?
Distinct if she's all there, but it gets muddier and more mumbly the more dissociative she gets.

10. Is the voice comforting or irritating? Reassuring or disturbing?
I think that really, really depends on how you associate with her. If you find her annoying, her voice is going to grate on you because it's loud and right there and you can't really ignore it.

11. Is he self-conscious when he speaks to others?
Hell no.

The Character's Mind
1. Is the character smart, dumb, naive?
Very smart, but puts up a naive sort of front as a defense mechanism of sorts.

2. Does he think quickly? Slowly? Is he quick-witted? Dull?
Quick-witted, fast-thinking.

3. What kind of education has he had?
She's gone to both high schools and colleges and grad schools everywhere, but I don't think she's ever finished a term anywhere.

4. What subjects does the character have knowledge or expertise in?
Knowledge in everything (no seriously, she remembers everything she's ever read/seen/learned/heard), expertise in absolutely none.

5. Is the character impulsive or deliberate in reaching conclusions?
This depends on the dilemma presented, but usually impulsive.

6. Does he think out things before she speaks or can he "think on his feet" as he is speaking?
Both, again depending on the situation.

7. Does he have contemplative times? What does he think about when alone?
She does, though she doesn't like them very much. She usually ends up thinking about what she is, or the end of the world, or...yeah.

8. Is he an idealist? A pragmatist? A dreamer? An idea man? An action man?
Idealist, dreamer, though with constant action. She's not the sort to take action on major things, but if there's a problem she deals with it. Unless it's one of her own, like the whole not-dying thing, and then she's pretty literally incapable of dealing.

9. Is his life motivated chiefly by abstract ideals or practical rewards?
Abstract ideals.

The Character's Emotions and Personality
1. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extroverted to an extreme. She doesn't like being alone for any length of time and always craves company, even if the company is just an anonymous crowd.

2. Does he get along well with people? Does he have charm? Are people attracted to him? Does he like people?
She gets along fabulously well with people, and has a certain amount of charm. I think she's one of those 'you either love them or hate them' type of people. She loves people.

3. Does he have many friends? Any close friends?
She has a ton of friends, and gets attached to people very easily, but I guess you would say she didn't have a ton of close friends that se could share everything with, seeing as a lot of people seem to think shes just insane rather than actually immortal. And she has a tendency to skip around the country a lot and drop contact with people even if it pains her to do so.

4. Is he hot-blooded or cool-headed?
Neither, just impulsive.

5. Does he have a narrow or wide range of emotions? Do they show often?
Yes, and yes.

6. Does he indulge in emotional peaks, outbursts, or valleys? Often?
Yep!

7. Would you say he is basically sensitive or callous?
Sensitive. She can be callous if she thinks you're not dealing with shit you should be dealing with, but she tries to be as nice to people as she can.

8. Is he suspicious, cautious, trusting, or naive about new people or situations?
Trusting but not naive. Just a little foolhardy.

9. Is he an aggressive or reactive person? Is he a pusher or a puller?
Very much a pusher, though in the way where she walks into people's lives and does what she wants and they're just kind of pulled along for the ride whether they want it or not.

10. Does he take positive or negative action?
Both, but usually positive.

11. In a danger or emergency situation would he go to it or run away from it?
Depends on the situation. She doesn't like to get hurt, but if people she cared about were involved, she wouldn't be afraid (terribly) to step in.

12. Is the character basically nervous or calm?
Neither, manic.

13. Does the character have a sense of humor? Does he appreciate jokes? Can he see humor in unfunny situations? Can he laugh at herself?
She can see the funny in almost anything except pain (and we don't mean tripping over one's feet and faceplanting kind of pain).

14. Can he tell a funny story or joke? Do others find him amusing?
Others find her amusing just because of her antics; she doesn't really try to tell jokes, she just acts weird.

15. Is he a practical joker?
No, not really. She won't mind helping out on one, but doesn't really initiate them as often as one might think.

16. Is his humor ever cruel?
No.

17. Under what conditions could he be harmful or mean or cruel to another person?
If said person hurt someone she cared about. Or tried to hurt her.

18. Is he a loving person? Is he full of love and giving or rather bound and tight in this area? Is he capable of relation to others in a loving way? Is he capable of relating to one specific person in a romantic way?
Very, very, very loving. Though strangely monogamous in that she generally doesn't sleep with more than one person at once. There are exceptions to this rule, of course, but generally she's open with everyone she's in a relationship with.

19. Is he loved by any other people? In what way? Y
es, in...all kind of ways?

20. Is he romantically in love now? With whom?
Right now she's pretty in love with Luke. With a bit of holdover love for Arlin and her most recent ex (other side of the Rift), but in a very aloof roundabout sort of way; the only reason Arlin keeps coming up is because he's this side of the Rift as well. She never really stops loving people, even if she leaves them behind.

The Character's Wealth, Power, and Influence
1. Does this person have much money?
Hahaa, no. She very rarely does, and is quite accustomed to being homeless, actually.

2. Is he generous or selfish with her money and possessions?
Generous. Overly so.

3. Is the character socially prominent? Is he prominent from wealth, position or office, family history, ability or accomplishment?
Nope. She kind of means to be in the background; she was made as an observer/recorder, not a mover/shaker.

4. Does the character rate high in the "pecking order" with his household? Town? Area? Nation? World?
She would ignore the pecking order completely and do whatever she wanted.

5. Does this person wield much clout? Over whom and by what means?
Interpersonally, she can. In general world-view, big-picture stuff, not at all.

6. Can he command others to do her bidding, by word or manipulation?
Not...really?

7. How does he get her wishes daily?
By taking them.

8. To whom is he subservient?
Her heart and the sick pink clouds.

The Character's Activities
1. How does the character spend his time?
Wandering, getting into conversations with whoever will talk to her, going to concerts, doodling in notebooks, shopping for used stuff, working at whatever place will put up with her long enough to hire her, playing in the park, hanging out with friends, eating all the food, invading other people's lives and nesting in them, moving.

2. What does his daily routine consist of?
She doesn't really have one. She sleeps when she can catch it (though it does tend to stay more or less confined to night or short naps during the day), and wanders every other time.

3. What is his profession or work?
She's a serial retail employee.

4. What things does he really like to do?
Be with people, mostly. Anything in the 'how does this character spend her time?" questions generally falls under 'things Babel likes to do'. There's very little she doesn't like to do. She'll try anything twice, basically.

5. What things does he hate to do?
Anything that makes her slow down and remember what she is. LSD. Hurting other people intentionally for no reason whatsoever.

6. What are his leisure time activities? Pastimes? Recreation?
GOD, HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES DO I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF.

7. Does he play games? What kind?
Yes. All kinds. Every game. :|

8. Does he like to eat or drink? How important to him are food and drink?
She loves food. She will eat all of it, anything you put in front of her. Especially if it's ice cream. She's also quite partial to cheeseburgers, though she does get sick of those. Drinks? She likes soda, fruity alcohol drinks, and beer the best, but she'll drink anything as well.

9. How important is sex to him? What sexual activities does he partake in? Anything unusual?
She likes sex! Mostly it's just plain ol' vanilla, but really she's pretty malleable as long as both of them are having a good time.

10. Is his exactitude about sex healthy or disturbing to him? Is sex a rewarding, enriching part of this person's life or is it frightening, anxious, or frustrating? Is sex a positive or negative factor in his life?
Positive, definitely.

Character's Religion
1. What are his specific religious beliefs? Does he belong to a specific sect or creed? Does she advocate that group's beliefs?
She's pretty incapable of believing in religions, she thinks, because she's died so many times. She's been part of religions before, been even incredibly devout, but nothing stuck around for more than a couple of deaths.

2. How important is religion to her?
She finds it fascinating and it's important in that it makes other people happy, but right now it's not so important for her herself.

3. Is she pious, devout?
No.

4. In what religious activities does she engage?
None, really, though she sometimes makes the rounds to various holy places to see if something sparks again. It hasn't so far, but one never knows.

5. How does religion motivate her actions or affect them?
Most of the time now it's to please someone she likes rather than because she has any sort of need to go for herself.

Character's Fears
1. What things frighten him?
The end of the world.

2. Is he motivated by fear?
A very large part of her drive forward is fear of what she is and fear of thinking too hard.

3. To what extent is he motivated; never, occasionally, usually, constantly?
Constantly.

4. What would this character think were the three most terrible things that could happen to him?
1) The end of the world again, yet another one.
2) Watching everyone she loves die.
3) Not being able to die herself.

5. What would he think were the three most wonderful things that could happen to him?
1) Having a long, healthy, fulfilling normal life.
2) Growing old with someone else.
3) Death.
